Warning About Photos On Line

Greetings all. I didn't realize that a photo could track your address.  This is a clip from ABC New about the images via cell phone, especially smart phones and I do believe the cameras could tell a stocker where you live. And they say your address information imbeded in the photo is easy to find.  Lets all be careful of the photos we post concerning our children and ourselves.  Be safe. Be smart. Be aware.

  1. I saw that warning on tv. that is why I never use my cell phone to post pictures. I just use my camera. That news item was very eye opening! Goes to show that one can't be too careful. Thanks for posting this. Blessings, Joanne

  2. Yes, I was shocked that it mentioned and showed a lady taking photos with her camera. I'm not the most tecnical person but who would have thought that a camera would have the gps info and incript it into the photo. It is scarry. Like a big brother kinda scary!!

  3. Thanks for sharing this. I always want everyone to be safe!! Way back I was on twitter with a friend in California, we had never met, I can't remember if I knew at that time exactly where she lived. Anyway, it was posting her exact location every time she left a post. Check all the electronic this like facebook and so on to be sure you have all setting set so that information does not get out.

BTW I in fact don't list my personal info when signing up. I make my address things like Sherwood Forest and my phone number is a valid area code then I just go with 123-4567

  4. This is excellent advice Wanda! I believe there is a site called whoit.com or somesuch site. That site tells peoples personal info if they have a WEB site. You actually have to pay a management company to insert their information and hide your information. For instance for "published" authrors who have a WEB site you could bring up this site [wish I could remember the exact name!] and just anyone could find you unless your managed by a screening company. I did try to right click on a photo and I wasn't getting the long & latitude just yet.But then that is me!! I'm not a technical! My husband said you have to think logically!! Well I'm a creative sort of person!! :)That says all!
